Gift Packaging Ideas
Oh how the hustle and bustle of the Holiday season has begun! I was out shopping yesterday and the parking lots were packed and so were the stores! As I was shopping, I was thinking of gift packaging ideas. I know many times gift bags are used as a simple solution to wrapping. Gift bags can be pricey though. Here are a few gift packaging ideas to use that will keep more money in your pockets!
Gift Packaging Ideas
Plastic containers:
I picked up some Ziploc plastic containers at Harris Teeter for free to .99¢ a pack. These plastic containers will hold my baked goods and homemade candy quite well. Ziploc also has holiday containers that are red or green with sparkles! There are 3-4 containers in each of the small and medium size packs. For just a few cents, I have containers that I don’t mind giving away. These are also great to pick up for leftovers!
Almost every store carries reusable totes now. The price varies from .99¢ and up depending on the store. Instead of buying gift bags, buy a reusable tote to package your gifts in. This idea is eco-friendly and most likely cheaper than buying a gift bag. Just add some ribbon and tissue paper to liven up the tote.
Baskets & Bowls:
One of my favorite gifts to give is gift baskets. A basket full of goodies is so much fun! I do buy my baskets ahead of time. Look for off season baskets in the clearance section. For example, I bought several baskets with a Halloween basket liner in them for 75% off. The basket liner easily comes out! I also buy fabric napkins on clearance to add as a replacement liner.
Another idea for packing gifts in a “basket”, is to use a bowl! I found a really neat melamine bowl at Rite Aid on clearance for .90¢. I just added a fabric napkin to line it and added the goodies. Placing the bowl full of goodies in cellophane wrap and adding a bow makes a really pretty gift.
Get creative with your gift packaging! Use items that can be reused and always check the clearance section.
